Do you know what these are?
These are ‘Myoga’, the flower buds of Japanese Ginger.
The flower bud comes out at the bottom of the plant which looks like Sasa (small bamboo-kind of plant) around this time of the year.
We slice / chop Myoga and add it into Miso Soup or sprinkle over some dish. It’s got very specific scent and taste which we enjoy very much as the seasonal flavour of Autumn in Japan (and my home in London).😋
