Watermelon & Blackberry with Shiratama Mochi Balls

I went Blackberry picking the other day. I was not sure if the fruits would still be there, but there were some. So I got Blackberries and some Watermelon in my refrigerator and I wondered what I could make with them… It has to be some kind of summery dessert which could be prepared quickly. In this heat I don’t have much patience to get a result and then I found a perfect solution!

Watermelon & Blackberry with Shiratama Mochi Balls

What I had to do was just making ‘Shiratama’ Mochi balls and some syrup. The rest of the task was combining all the ingredients together in a chilled glass bowl. Easy!

The result was amazing! It was delicious & super refreshing! It was more than I expected. If you like ‘Mochi’ Rice cakes, you should try this. It will be a great summertime dessert after meal with your friends.

[Ingredients]

  • Watermelon
  • Blackberries
  • Mint Leaves (as garnish)

(Shiratama)

  • Glutinous Rice Flour: 80g
  • Sugar: 1 Tbsp
  • Water: 70-75ml

(Syrup)

  • Sugar: 1 Tbsp per a portion
  • Water: 50ml per a portion
  • Lemon Juice: a half Tbsp per a portion

[Direction]

(Making Syrup) Boil water with sugar and lemon juice. Chill it in a refrigerator.

(Make Shiratama) By following the instruction on my ‘Shiratama’ post make small Mochi balls and chill them in iced water.

Cut Watermelon into cubes. Mix Watermelon cubes, Blackberries and Shiratama ball in a chilled dessert bowl. Pour chilled Lemon syrup and garnish with a piece of Lemon and Mint leaves.
