I made two types of Japanese sweets for December. You might have noticed that one of them has been briefly introduced as the part of White-Christmas Market report in my previous post.
Christmas Tree 2017
It is December, the Christmas month. So one of them I made is of course a Christmas Tree. This one is my third attempt in making a Japanese sweet ‘Christmas Tree’ for last two years (the last years’ one is here with Mochi Snowman😊) and I am satisfied with this year’s one the most.
You might think ‘Is this really a Japanese sweet?’. Well, it looks a very western sweet but it is actually made with one of the most traditional Japanese sweet pastry.
I made the green part of this tree with the Japanese pastry coloured and flavoured with ‘Matcha’ Green Tea. Since this particular sweet looks very western in design, I decided to add Chocolate powder into the Sweet Bean paste for the centre. So you can taste the harmony of Green Tea and Chocolate together when you eat this.
It is Gluten-free, Dairy-free and also Egg-free.
This sweet is served at Wasoukan Café (Notting Hill, London) until the 22nd of this month. Enjoy! 😋
How cute 🙂
