Other Sweets in the Final!

I made various versions of sweets with a ‘Spring’ theme for Wasoukan Cafe. Some of them were good and some were a little experimental and challenging. There were two particular ones that went to the final selection but did not go through to the Cafe menu. I feel they deserve to be introduced here.

Yoshino (Cherry Tree Mountain), Ukishima

This Sakura pink version was my first option as ‘Ukishima‘ in a Spring theme. The image I had in my mind was a mountain called Yoshino in Japan that is the most famous place for many Cherry Trees in full Bloom like this photo.

What do you think? Does my sweet give you this Yoshino Mountain’s image?

This Yoshino (Ukishima) is not just made in Sakura pink colour but also has Strawberry Jam as flavour to give you that Spring feeling. It is also free from Gluten, Dairy & Oil.

Spring Field, Kinton

Another sweet that made it into my final selection was this one.

Spring Field1

It is made from two different textures, Azuki and Matcha Nerikiri.

In my mind the colour that appears in the field in very early spring is yellow. It is the colour of this plant Creeping Buttercup (Ranunculus repens) or even Dandelion.

So the field image like this was the visual source in my mind which gave me the idea of this sweet. It is Gluten, Egg, Dairy & Oil Free.

These sweets did not make it into the Cafe, but I am quite fond of them. I hope that maybe someday they will also appear on the Cafe menu.Β  πŸ™‚

Oh, one more thing. The sweets in the previous post are served in the cafe only in April. If you are interested in trying them you have one more week. Thank you! πŸ’“

  2. Oh my gosh, these look so incredible! Absolutely stunning! I love how these both have such a nice seasonal theme to them. It makes me so happy to know that you’re making such authentic Japanese sweets even as far away as London.
