Morning Glory, Japanese Sweet I made another Japanese sweet in summer flower design. This is Morning Glory, one of the most summery flowers. It is the first plant I sew the seeds and looked after myself when I was a child. * Sadly I don't see them at all in London. Galaxy, Japanese sweet ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It's the 'Tanabata' Star festival today and everybody hopes to see the clear sky so that we can make a wish to stars. I'm pleased that it became very sunny in London. ⭐ I wondered what sort of sweet was suitable for this special occasion and created this dome shaped one. The lower part is supposed to be the Earth wich is made with Azuki (Red) Bean paste and the top clear part is as the Galaxy/Universe with a star and colourful planets (Mochi) inside. You eat it chilled. Galaxy Mizu Yokan, Japanese sweet * 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Tomorrow, the 7th of July, is a special day called 'Tanabata' in Japan. It's not a national holiday but it is the day that everyone hopes for good weather and looks up at the sky in the evening. It is a Star festival. 🌟 It's based on an old story regarding a loving couple who were forced to live separately on each side of a river. Because they became so sad the God gave them permission that they were allowed to cross the river only once a year on the 7th of July if the weather is good. 🌟 This is an ancient story which was supposed to be happening in the sky. The lovers are actually two stars and the river is Milky way. (I wrote this story in more detail in my blog in the past. I newly created a link to the page so if you are interested please visit my blog from my profile.) 🌟 So, I created this sweet which is composed of two parts. The bottom part is made with sweet Azuki (Red) bean paste that is meant to be the Earth. The top part is jelly-like clear dome meat to be the Galaxy with star and planets made of Mochi. White Sakura, Japanese Sweet * * 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸 I had a little bit of white Nerikiri sweet and I wanted to make something with it. It's sunny and hot in London today so what I wanted to create was a cooling looking sweet and then this sweet was the outcome! * It's a double white sweet with the white outer layer and the white sweet bean paste fiilling inside. It looked a little too boring so I decorated it with some gold & silver glitter as well as Sakura pattern on top. Clematis, Japanese Sweet Clematis is one of my favourite flowers. Last year I made a Mochi type Clematis sweet so I wanted to use a different type of the flower. * I also didn't want to use any food colouring and then I used Ube, purple sweet potato/yam to colour & flavour the sweet this time. I like any bluey purple flowers so that helped too. * What I wanted to concentrate on making this sweet was recreating the hair-like fluffy-ness of the central part of the real flower.
